The new CAF Filler cap for tanks is compliant with the EEC standard no.70-221, preventing the evaporation of gas and possible fuel leaks, and is able to increase vehicle safety preventing leaks also in case of tank overturning.
Its features are possible thanks to the airtight closure of the shutter [1], which through a steel spring [2], adequately strengthened from 1.5 mm to 1.6 compared to the previous patented one, offers such a pressure on the O-Ring [3] to have absolute guarantee against drop leakage of the fuel also with curving vehicle.
Apart from excellent closure, this cap was designed to allow easy penetration of the fuel pump filler gun, in fact, as shown in fig. 3, the recessing of the cap favours the insertion of the gun without suffering the pressure of the spring; in addition, during filling phase, thanks to a circular interrupted projecting part we ensure the passage of air favouring the introduction of fuel without leaking of this latter see fig.4.
Concerning the fixing system to the loading pipe of the tank, there is a threading, with a blocking dowel to prevent accidental unscrewing (fig.5).
Another important innovation is a strengthened gasket in unattackable special antacid rubber 5mm high (fig.6), which allows a compression between filler and die-casting which prevents any fuel leakage.
The cap is realised in a bronze casting, this choice was made to ensure much greater compactness of the object compared to the normal plastic caps, which are subject to wear during use. To ensure greater resistance of the object, the CAF cap has the characteristic flower shape, maintaining a constant thickness of about 5mm between the internal and external of the object that prevents, also in case of violent bump, a possible crack of the body of the object and successive leakage of the same fuel.
